The Diet Solution Scam Aside, Program is Healthy

The talk of the Diet Solution scam aside, there are many things about this program that make sense. The program does not deprive the body of the basic things it needs to be strong and healthy –such as protein.

Protein is a very basic requirement for survival. One of three macronutrients, there isn’t a single cell in our bodies that does not depend on protein. Protein foods, like fat, are calorie dense and diets that restrict calories too much often do not allow dieters enough protein. Too little protein can harm muscle structure making the body weak, it can cause low birth weight babies when the mother does not get enough of this important nutrient. Too little protein can harm the heart. Our skin, hair, and nails are made from protein. It even keeps our vision healthy.

In general, the average American adult needs 55 and 65 grams of protein every day. If you are working out or exercising more than usual you may need a little more.
